Somali military, police unit clash in Mogadishu ‘over land dispute’

MOGADISHU (HOL) – Fighting broke out between Somali National Army and Haram’ad paramilitary forces in Mogadishu Wednesday morning amid reports of casualties on both sides.

The two sides exchanged fire at Banaadir area in Mogadishu causing a scare in the city as residents started their day.

The fighting is reportedly based on a dispute over land ownership that has been dragging on for some time, and there are reports of various casualties as a result of the fighting.

There was no immediate report on casualties but sources said both sides suffered injuries and that some civilians may have been harmed during the crossfire.
