Organizational Background

AYUUB is an indigenous local NGO.  Non-profit non-partial, non- political and voluntary organization based in South West State, Lower Shabelle region with the objective of reaching the most affected grass-root communities in South and Bakool regions and lower Shebelle effectively and efficiently. We are looking forward to establishing a team of health workers consisting of various cadres of health professionals to deliver lifesaving emergency health services to the population in need through this program with high impact on lives of the most vulnerable population groups.

EXPERIENCE :

At least 5 years of work experience with a Government, other institutes, UN Agencies, US government agencies or international NGOs in public health practices such as program design, implementation and evaluation, community intervention, public health management, delivery, or operational research.

Minimum of four years’ experience above must be in HIV, STI, TB, Malaria, or related infectious disease field.

An additional 2 years of management experience is also required.

Education Requirements :

Medical degree (MBChB, MBBS or MD) is required.

A Master of Medicine or Public Health, Epidemiology, or related field is also required.

EVALUATIONS :

  1. LANGUAGE :

Level IV (Fluent) Speaking / Reading / Writing of English is required (This may be tested)

Level IV (Fluent) Speaking / Reading / Writing of Arabic is an added advantage.

Knowledge of Somali Language is preferred but not compulsory.

  • SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

Must be able to :

  1. Establish effective diplomatic working relationships with physicians, individuals and official representatives of public health organizations, particularly those treating patients and representing other agencies, Somalia Ministry of Health and other international organizations;
  2. organize and manage subordinate staff;
  3. communicate effectively orally and in writing;
  4. plan, develop, manage and evaluate important and complex programs independently;
  5. provide medical and public health information and advice in assigned area objectively;
  6. follow oral instructions, and organize, prioritize and follow through expeditiously on all assignments with minimal oversight;
  7. focus on details as appropriate; and
  8. demonstrate proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases and other computer applications for program implementation, epidemiology and operational research;
  9. translate and interpret complex medical and technical technology to appropriate audiences and prepare oral and written reports in English for senior-level international scientific audiences.
  10. Keyboarding skills that include both speed and accuracy are required.
  • JOB KNOWLEDGE :

The job holder must have;

  1. knowledge of the principles of public health planning, implementation, and evaluation of HIV / STI / TB prevention programs;
  2. knowledge of the methods, process, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health programs; knowledge and related country physician license to prescribe medications and treat patients, knowledge of research design concepts and basic statistical methods and procedures;
  3. knowledge of management concepts and practices used by organizations engaged in international health or health related endeavors.
  4. As a senior Staff in the office, must be thoroughly familiar with the AYUUB employment system and with WHO guidelines, practices, and the current Country Operational Plan process.
